Why this video?:
I read Jaeson’s book near the end of my 40 day sabbatical and could not put it down! It was an amazing follow-up book to The Forgotten Ways by Alan Hirsch because it really gives practical ways to live on mission, become a person of prayer, have a passion for the lost and discipling them in the way of Jesus, and how to start planting simple churches without having to go to a bunch of conferences! God is using it to change college campuses for the Kingdom of God, and would be a great asset for any church that wants to reach the unreached people groups in their cities!
Last day of my Sabbatical
Well, today is the last day of my 40 day sabbatical and I have been reflecting on all God has been showing me over the last month and a half. I have honestly been blown away.
It’s been tougher than I ever thought it would be, but I have so much gratitude in my heart.
I hope to share in greater length, but a few things that stick out more than anything else…
God is calling me to have deeper intimacy with him, and that is costly to embody in the culture that I live in and all the distractions I face like the Internet, TV , technology, even other people. But, God wants me to spend time with him, intentional hours alone with studying his word, talking to him, seeking out the Holy Spirit in my life, worshiping with song and just expressing it with a thankful heart.
I need to seek out deeper community and live out what the early church lived out so well, loving each other, caring for others needs, carrying my brothers’ burdens, spurring their communities on to be bold and faithful witnesses of the message of Jesus.
God is calling me to intentionally reach out to the unreached people groups in my city, hang out with them, see where they are hurting, comfort them, share the message of Jesus with them and how the Power of God will transform and heal their lives. As I do this, I see him raising up simple churches that will impact the communities around them with the love and truth of Jesus. This will be probably be the costliest of all the things I seek to embody.
I pray in the Name of Jesus that God would continue to stir each of us to live as his witnesses in our cities, country, and to the ends of the earth.
Full of Gratitude,
Ken
